John Ball

Musician in Residence
University of Sheffield

John Ball is a dedicated and experienced performer and teacher of North Indian music specialising in both tabla and the one hundred stringed santoor.
Since 2008 he has been Musician in Residence at the University of Sheffield, where he teaches both tabla and santoor.
As a performer, he regularly accompanies Indian Classical Vocalists, Instrumentalists and Kathak dancers both in the UK and abroad and has played at several major festivals including Womad, Edinburgh Festival, London Jazz, Musicport and Brecon Jazz.

John performs and composes for several cross-cultural music projects including INDUS, where he features on santoor in an innovative quartet playing original compositions inspired by traditional Indian music repertoire.
John is available for solo and ensemble performances (inc. indian music for weddings/corporate events) private tuition and workshops.
